Al Craven is a recurring character on Night Court who appears in four episodes in the series's first season, "The Former Harry Stone", "Harry and the Rockstar", "Pick a Number", and "Harry and the Madam". Al is played in the episodes by Terry Kiser.
Al Craven, a newspaper reporter for The Manhattan Gazette, is quite snoopy. In trying to land that "big scoop" of a story, he tends to follow leads, often without checking them over thoroughly, particuarly if they might lead to a scoop on a scandalous story. In his appearance in the episode "The Former Harry Stone", his first, he overhears that Judge Stone has a criminal record and presses the matter until Harry admits that he once drove off with his dad's car and crashed into the front of a liquor store. Craven didn't think the story was scandalous enough and chose not to print it as he doesn't see anything interesting in "a judge who once got busted for taking a teenage joyride"!
