New York-born actor and television director Alan Bergmann directed seven episodes of the NBC-TV series Night Court. He would also direct such televison series as Private Benjamin, Barney Miller]], Family Tiesand Mr. Belvedere. Bergmann was born and raised in New York City.

Acting careerEdit

Among his numerous acting roles, Alan played Lal in the Star Trek episode "The Empath".

Prior to this, Bergmann appeared on the television series The Nurses, starring fellow TOS guest actor Stephen Brooks. Bergmann also guest-starred in an episode of The Wild Wild West and an episode of The Big Valley. In 1967, Bergmann appeared with Paul Fix in an episode of The High Chaparral, a Western series which starred Henry Darrow. Later television appearances include guest spots on Bracken's World, Mission: Impossible, Search, Mannix, and Wonder Woman.

Bergmann also has a few films to his credit, including 1964's Black Like Me which starred James Whitmore, the 1972 TV movie Welcome Home, Johnny Bristol with Brock Peters and John Hoyt, and 1997's Turbulence with Catherine Hicks.
