Jay Gerber (born April 18, 1929) made three guest appearances on Night Court, first appearing as Alan Kitch in the Season 2 episode Christine and Mac (a.k.a Daddy for the Defense)" then as Mr. Loller in Season 3's "Dad's First Date", and last, as Sydney Shoup in "Author, Author" in Season 4.
Since the 1970's Jay has enjoyed a long career on television, having made many guest appearances on such popular TV shows such as Love, American Style, What's Happening!!, M*A*S*H, All In The Family, The Rockford Files, Barney Miller, The Greatest American Hero, Perfect Strangers, Knots Landing, Valerie, Martin, Any Day Now, Alias and the The Gilmore Girls.
He also made a notable film appearances in the film Dog Day Afternoon (1975), as well as roles in Memoirs of an Invisible Man (1992), and Three Wishes (1995).
