Seems like bad luck seemed to be following Mr, Runyon, who was charged with kicking another man in the stomach, a one Mr. Miller, who picked up a $5 bill off the street which was supposed to be part of his rent money was sent flying all over the street after he was hit by a car.
In pleading his case to Judge Stone, Runyon elaborates: "Your Honor, I was just fired from my job of 20 years. When they repossessed my car, I borrowed my son's bike to ride to the bank to withdraw my entire life savings which I needed to pay the rent. But on the way back, a car hit me, sending my money flying all over the street where passers-by started scooping it up for themselves."
When Harry, who's entrusted by a one Leo Baldassare (Sydney Lassick), who has a winning NY State lottery ticket worth $3,000,000, in finding a more "needy individual" than he to give the prize to, asks, "Runyon, you say you don't have a penny to your name?" Mr. Runyon replies "Nope...And I won't till the insurance company sends me the half million", as Dan says, "The prosecution rests...Comfortably, Your Honor!"
